Cablevision Fights Back With RS-DVR Counterclaim

Law360, New York (June 07, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Fending off allegations of copyright infringement, cable provider Cablevision Systems Corp. has filed a counterclaim in federal court that, as expected, channels the U.S. Supreme Court’s seminal “fair use” case in defense of its newest recording technology.

The counterclaim was part of Cablevision’s answer to a complaint by major movie studios, including Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp., which was filed May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
