Toyota Seeks Sanctions In Hybrid Patent Spat

Law360, New York (June 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Corp. has asked a federal judge to dismiss a patent case over hybrid technology for cars because the plaintiff, a patent attorney, has repeatedly missed filing deadlines despite warnings that his actions could lead to sanctions.

The motion, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, accuses Conrad O. Gardner and his attorney of "persistently disregard[ing]" the court's deadlines and of "engag[ing] in a clear pattern of neglect."
