Maine, US Settle Over CERCLA Costs

Law360, New York (October 2, 2009, 5:40 PM EDT) -- Dozens of defendants have reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with the state of Maine and the U.S. government over the cleanup of a former waste oil storage facility in Plymouth, Maine, a state official said.

Maine and the U.S. filed two identical lawsuits seeking reimbursement for the cleanup Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine. A settlement agreement likely will be filed in the next several weeks, said David Wright, the remediation division director at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
