New USPTO Program To Speed Exams For Small Cos.

Law360, New York (November 06, 2009, 4:30 PM ET) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office plans to help small inventors with multiple patent applications take greater control over their patent prosecution through a pilot program announced Friday that would let inventors willing to abandon one unexamined patent application fast-track another.

The goal of the new program is to cut both pendency time for smaller inventors and the agency's backlog of unexamined applications, it said.
