Acacia Unit, GreatCall Settle Cell Phone Patent Suit

Law360, New York (December 14, 2009, 2:32 PM ET) -- Acacia Research Corp. subsidiary Location Based Services LLC has reached a settlement with GreatCall Inc. in an infringement suit LBS brought accusing several wireless technology retailers of infringing four patents for location-based cell phone systems and services.

LBS, the exclusive licensee of the asserted patents, announced Friday that the parties had entered a licensing and settlement agreement for the patents, ending GreatCall's involvement in the suit, which is still pending against four other defendants in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas....
