EIG, Fitch Settle Newsletter Copyright Case

Law360, New York (December 14, 2009, 3:43 PM ET) -- Fitch Inc. has settled a lawsuit alleging that the ratings agency violated copyright law by electronically forwarding Energy Intelligence Group Inc.'s subscription newsletters.

Magistrate Judge Frank Maas of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York entered an order of discontinuance in the case on Friday, ending the suit. EIG launched the suit in September 2008 after receiving a tip-off about the alleged piracy from a Fitch employee.
