VMware Snaps Up Yahoo E-Mail Unit Zimbra

Law360, New York (January 13, 2010, 4:46 PM EST) -- Palo Alto, Calif.-based information technology solutions company VMware Inc. has purchased Yahoo Inc.'s open source e-mail unit Zimbra and its 55 million mailboxes, as the Internet giant seeks to shed noncore assets.

Terms of the deal, announced Tuesday, were not disclosed, but the price was reported to be less than the $350 million Yahoo paid for Zimbra in 2007.
