Lancet Retracts Study Linking MMR Vaccine To Autism

Law360, New York (February 2, 2010, 5:37 PM EST) -- A top medical journal on Tuesday retracted a 12-year-old paper that suggests a link between autism and the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, after England's medical regulator determined one of the study's authors acted unethically.

The Lancet announced that it will fully retract from the published record a 1998 paper authored by Dr. Andrew Wakefield and 12 others who studied a dozen children with chronic entercolitis and regressive development disorder in an attempt to find a link between the conditions and the MMR vaccine.
