Qualcomm Evades Wireless Transmission Patent Suit

Law360, New York (February 24, 2010, 4:03 PM ET) -- A federal judge has tossed a suit accusing Qualcomm Inc. of inducing its customers to infringe a patent for sending documents wirelessly from vehicles, ruling that R&L Carriers Inc. neglected to allege a plausible intent to cause infringement.

Judge Sandra S. Beckwith of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on Tuesday dismissed the infringement suit against Qualcomm. The judge also dismissed related suits against nine other defendants over the same patent, all suits currently under the umbrella of the Qualcomm multidistrict litigation....
