Midwest Towns Sue Syngenta Over Herbicide Cleanup

Law360, New York (March 11, 2010, 4:17 PM ET) -- A group of more than 15 Midwestern cities and towns has filed a class action seeking to force Syngenta Crop Protection Inc. to pay for the removal of an allegedly toxic herbicide from public water supplies.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, claims that Syngenta sold the herbicide product atrazine to farmers knowing that it would contaminate public water supplies.
