$100M Verdict For BP Workers Slashed In Gas Leak Suit

Law360, New York (March 17, 2010, 3:40 PM ET) -- A federal judge has slashed a jury's award of more than $100 million to BP Products North America Inc. workers injured in a gas leak at the oil giant's Texas City, Texas, plant to less than $400,000.

Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Tuesday threw out the entire $100 million punitive damages award, saying that the 10 workers who claimed they were hurt were entitled only to a little more than $340,600 combined in actual damages...
