Property Owners Target BP, Others Over Oil Spill

Law360, New York (April 30, 2010, 1:55 PM EDT) -- BP America Inc. and Transocean Ltd. are facing two putative class actions by property owners along the Gulf Coast over damage resulting from a deadly April 20 explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon mobile oil rig off the coast of Louisiana.

The suits, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, come ahead of the expected landfall of a fast-moving, 100-mile-long oil slick that has already allegedly torpedoed demand for the plaintiffs' waterside rental properties.
