Barclays To Sell Part Of UPP For £800M: Report

Law360, New York (May 10, 2010, 5:09 PM EDT) -- Investment bank Barclays Capital is reportedly planning to split its University Partnerships Programme — the U.K.’s leading provider of managed on-campus university accommodation — into two parts and sell off one part for roughly £800 million ($1.19 billion) in an effort to finance new projects.

Under the proposed deal, UPP's assets would be sold off into a stand-alone fund and asset management business, which would be open to institutional investors, and a separate development arm would be sold to a property or infrastructure company, according to...
