Law Firm Shareholder Can't Sue For Sex Bias: 3rd Circ.

Law360, New York (July 15, 2010, 6:56 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on Thursday upheld the dismissal of a female shareholder's sex bias suit against Dickie McCamey & Chilcote PC, finding that she isn't an employee entitled to protection under anti-discrimination laws.

In an unpublished opinion, the three-judge panel decided that shareholder Alyson J. Kirleis is an employer rather than an employee and thus cannot sue the firm for sexual discrimination, affirming a district court's grant of summary judgment in favor of Pittsburgh-based Dickie McCamey.
