Sony, Disney, Others Sued Over DVD Tech Patents

Law360, New York (July 20, 2010, 11:35 AM EDT) -- The Walt Disney Co., Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment LLC, Universal Studios Inc. and other movie houses are facing new allegations of patent infringement from MonkeyMedia Inc., the owner of patents covering technology that lets users access bonus footage on DVDs.

MonkeyMedia filed suit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, accusing the studios and Sony Electronics Inc. of infringing three patents covering “seamless expansion” and “seamless contraction” technology.
