DOE To Back $1.3B GE-Caithness Wind Farm Project

Law360, New York (October 12, 2010, 1:08 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Energy is set to provide a partial guarantee for a $1.3 billion loan in support of a wind farm project sponsored by General Electric Co. and Caithness Energy LLC that will be larger than any wind farm currently in operation worldwide.

The loan will finance the 845-megawatt wind-powered electrical generating facility located in eastern Oregon, known as the Caithness Shepherds Flat wind project, U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu said Friday.
