High Court Denies Cert In Fla. Water Transfer Fight

Law360, New York (November 29, 2010, 2:20 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to take up challenges to an appellate decision freeing Florida water management authorities from certain permit requirements in the discharge of polluted water into Lake Okeechobee.

The court denied petitions for writs of certiorari Monday by environmental groups including Friends of the Everglades as well as the Miccosukee Tribe, which were hoping for a court ruling that the pumping of polluted canal water into the lake was subject to pollution discharge permitting restrictions under the Clean Water Act.
