Centrica Can't Shake Antitrust Limits On Gas Facility

Law360, New York (January 12, 2011, 2:54 PM EST) -- U.K. antitrust regulators Wednesday preliminarily rejected Centrica PLC's bid to lift competition restrictions on a gas storage facility the British energy giant acquired in 2002, but agreed to consider changes to the constraints.

In a provisional decision, the U.K. Competition Commission found that though the market to supply gas in Great Britain had changed significantly in recent years, Centrica had maintained its strength in the retail arena.
