Toshiba Accuses 17 Cos. Of Infringing DVD Patents

Law360, New York (April 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Toshiba Corp. launched a two-pronged attack against 17 electronics companies Friday, alleging infringement of DVD patents at the U.S. International Trade Commission and a California district court.

Toshiba and U.S. subsidiary Toshiba America Consumer Products LLC accused DVD makers based in the U.S., China and Hong Kong of infringing three essential patents for manufacturing DVD players. The accused companies make DVD players and products under the brand names Daewoo, Memorex, jWIN, Polaroid and TruTech.
