Sunoco Exposes Consumers To Identity Theft: Suit

Law360, New York (April 13, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Gas station operator Sunoco Inc. faces a consumer class action over claims the company is putting customers at risk of identity theft by failing to block out credit card information on sales receipts.

Filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the suit claims Sunoco Inc. and its subsidiary East Gate Sunoco have willfully ignored repeated reminders to comply with new laws minimizing customers’ exposure to identity theft.
