AstraZeneca Seeks To Block Ex-Consultant's Testimony

Law360, New York (March 10, 2011, 3:19 PM ET) -- AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Inc. moved Wednesday to block a rival from using one of its paid consultants as an expert witness in ongoing patent infringement litigation in New Jersey over a proposed generic version of schizophrenia treatment Seroquel XR.

AstraZeneca filed a motion in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey to disqualify Dr. Christopher Reist from testifying for Handa Pharmaceuticals LLC, arguing his confidential work with AstraZeneca created a conflict of interest and would unfairly prejudice the plaintiff.
