BP Settles Suit Over Deepwater Horizon Death

Law360, New York (March 15, 2011, 12:49 PM ET) -- BP PLC reached a confidential settlement Monday in a Louisiana court with the widow of an employee killed in the Deepwater Horizon explosion last year.

Judge Carl Barbier dismissed the case, filed last year by Melinda Anne Becnel, stating that the parties had "firmly agreed upon a compromise."

In addition to BP, named defendants in the suit include Halliburton Energy Services Inc., Cameron International Corp., Anadarko Petroleum Co. Ltd. and Moex Offshore 2007 LLC.
