Avaya, Union Sued Over Severance Payments

Law360, New York (April 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two former employees of telecommunications company Avaya Inc. on Monday filed a proposed class action against the company and their union, alleging they were paid unfair severance packages when they voluntarily left the company in March 2006.

In the complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, Jeanie Blair and Patti Bodwell claimed that Avaya offered severance benefits lower than those stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement it had signed with the union, Communications Workers of America, Local 7777.
