House Committee Advances Amended Patent Bill

Law360, New York (April 14, 2011, 6:38 PM EDT) -- A House panel advanced comprehensive patent reform legislation Thursday, tweaking prior use defenses and inter partes review deadlines, but rebuffing broader changes to keystone first-to-file and prior user rights provisions.

Following a day-long markup session, the House Judiciary Committee voted 32-3 to report out an amended H.R. 1249, the America Invents Act, sending the revised legislation to the House floor for further debate and a vote on the long-awaited bill's final passage.
