Nev. Law Bans Transgender Workplace Discrimination

Law360, New York (May 24, 2011, 9:58 PM EDT) -- Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval on Tuesday signed into law an employment discrimination bill that extends protections to transgendered people.

Sandoval, a Republican, signed the bill, AB211, that adds gender expression and identity to state employment law, which already protects against discrimination due to race, religion, age, sex and disability. The Nevada Equal Rights Commission will be empowered to investigate acts of employment discrimination against transgendered people, according to the bill.
