EU Raids Caterpillar, Others In Engine Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 12:33 PM EDT) -- The European Union's antitrust watchdog said Friday that it had raided a number of industrial piston engine manufacturers, suppliers and distributors — including General Electric Co., Caterpillar Inc. and an AB Volvo unit — citing suspicions of a cartel or other anti-competitive activities.

The European Commission conducted surprise inspections Wednesday at the offices of a number of companies that make and sell piston engines designed mainly for industrial uses.
