Target, Wal-Mart Sued Over Mohawk Rug Designs

Law360, San Diego (June 08, 2011, 6:04 PM ET) -- Luxury home accessories maker Angela Adams Designs LLC lodged a suit in Maine on Tuesday alleging rugs made by Mohawk Industries Inc. and sold by retailers Target Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. were infringing its copyright.

The Portland, Maine-based company claims that Mohawk is making two separate rug designs — and selling one through Target and the other through Wal-Mart — that are too similar to its house wares decorated with rounded square shapes.
