Life Sciences Industry Says FDA Needs Reform

Law360, New York (May 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration suffers from staffing shortages, drawn out reviews, backlogs of applications and a lack of resources, according to a survey of the top pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences companies.

The industry’s views of the FDA’s drug and medical device approval process emerged in a survey released on Wednesday by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and BIOCOM, a life sciences industry association that represents 550 companies in southern California.
