Pfizer Sues Teva Over Lipitor Patent

Law360, New York (June 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. filed suit Thursday against Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., claiming the generics maker infringed a patent for its cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor with its latest abbreviated new drug application.

The complaint was filed by Pfizer and its subsidiary Warner-Lambert Co. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Warner-Lambert, which merged with Pfizer in 2000, is the owner of the patent-in-suit, U.S. Patent Number 5,273,995.
