Citing Skilling, Scruggs' Son Appeals Conviction

Law360, New York (August 18, 2011, 6:55 PM ET) -- David Zachary Scruggs sought Wednesday to appeal a decision upholding his conviction for failing to report his father's scheme to influence a Mississippi judge, claiming the U.S. Supreme Court's Skilling ruling decriminalized his behavior.

Scruggs already served 14 months in prison after pleading guilty in 2008 to misprision of a felony, but he is still seeking to undo the conviction that stemmed from that guilty plea.
