Steadfast Dodges Claims In Benzene Coverage Row

Law360, New York (November 01, 2011, 1:59 PM ET) -- A Tennessee federal judge on Monday threw out W.M. Barr & Co.’s breach of contract claims against Steadfast Insurance Co. in a suit seeking to determine coverage duties in dozens of cases alleging benzene exposure injuries from Barr’s cleaning products.

U.S. District Judge Bernice Bouie Donald ruled that Barr’s claims couldn’t survive because Barr never asked Steadfast to settle or defend any of the underlying suits.
