Legal Industry Ends 2011 On Low Note With 1800 Lost Jobs

Law360, New York (January 6, 2012, 4:26 PM EST) -- Despite the overall economy's addition of 200,000 new jobs last month, the legal services industry lost 1,800 jobs in December, according to a U.S. Department of Labor jobs report released Friday.

The 0.16 percent loss may be bad news for professionals and support staff within law firms that are still looking to cut costs in the coming year, but is not necessarily a surprise, according to Jerome Kowalski, founder of legal consulting firm Kowalski & Associates.
