Shell Unit, Others Allowed To Enter Oil Project Permit Fight

Law360, New York (January 09, 2012, 3:12 PM ET) -- An Idaho federal judge ruled Friday that three oil drilling companies, including a Royal Dutch Shell PLC affiliate, can intervene in a lawsuit challenging drilling and grazing permits in Wyoming and five other states that will allegedly harm the sage grouse.

Shell affiliate SWEPI LP, Ultra Petroleum Corp. subsidiary Ultra Resources Inc. and QEP Resources Inc. can all intervene in the lawsuit because of their economic interests in one of the permits at issue, U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill ruled.
