Law360, New York (January 18, 2012, 5:08 PM ET) -- Canadian toy maker Mega Brands Inc. launched a lawsuit Friday accusing Lego Group of trying to monopolize the construction toy industry by using fraudulently obtained intellectual property rights to keep it from importing competitive products into the U.S.
In a complaint filed in California federal court, Mega Brands alleges that during meetings with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Lego asserted that it had exclusive trademark rights to the cylindrical stud element used in its construction blocks.
