Geron Wins Patent Interference Vs. ACT Over Cloning Technology

Law360, New York (February 24, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Geron has won another round in its patent interference proceeding with Advanced Cell Technology Corporation over the technology used to clone Dolly the sheep.

This week, the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued a final judgment in favor of Geron in a dispute involving patent claims to nuclear transfer technology. The board found that all claims of ACT’s patent, which it licenses from the University of Massachusetts, are be unpatentable, Geron said.
