Macy's Denies Shorting Martha Stewart Merch

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 5:52 PM EDT) -- Macy's Inc. on Tuesday fired back at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc., which claims the retailer violated a licensing agreement by failing to promote the Martha Stewart brand, as the companies continued to spar over MSLO's new partnership with J.C. Penney Co. Inc.

In its answer to MSLO's amended counterclaims, Macy's argued against its erstwhile partner's contentions that the department store chain used the Martha Stewart brand as a loss leader to draw customers without sufficiently promoting MSLO's merchandise.
