Progress Energy Settles Telephony Patent Suit

Law360, New York (August 24, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A prolific patent owner's case against Progress Energy Inc. was dismissed on Tuesday, after a federal judge ordered that all claims asserted in the case be jointly dismissed with prejudice.

Judge R. Gary Klausner of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California entered the sealed order, saying the parties should bear their own costs, expenses and attorneys' fees associated with the prosecution and defense of the action.

He also said that the court would retain jurisdiction over the matter to enforce a settlement....
