Law360, New York (May 01, 2012, 9:41 PM ET) -- The state of Alabama on Tuesday urged the judge overseeing the Deepwater Horizon multidistrict litigation to deny BP PLC's bid to further delay a trial originally set for February, saying the matter should be heard this year and ideally as early as July.
U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier had postponed the first phase of the trial after BP and plaintiffs' lawyers announced they had reached a settlement to most of the property damage, economic loss and medical claims in the sprawling MDL.
