SEIU To Drop Ballot Proposals In Deal With Hospital Group

Law360, New York (May 3, 2012, 6:42 PM EDT) -- The Service Employees International Union agreed Wednesday to drop two ballot proposals aimed at ending hospital price-gouging and boosting charity spending, as part of an agreement with the California Hospital Association to join forces to address rising health costs and public health concerns.

Although the agreement between the CHA and SEIU United Healthcare Workers – West was thin on details, the deal ended long-running negotiations and disputes related to two controversial ballot proposals that could have cost California hospitals billions of dollars.
