NJ Dems Say Christie Gutted Port Authority Oversight Bill

Law360, New York (July 26, 2012, 8:33 PM EDT) -- Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday conditionally vetoed legislation aimed at increasing transparency at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, a move called “irresponsible and nonsensical” by bill sponsors who questioned his protection of the scandal-ridden agency under investigation for toll hikes.

Bill S-1761 would have subjected the Port Authority to stricter oversight including increased scrutiny of its management, operational decisions and financial transactions.
