$5B Carlyle Offer Would Top PE Bids For DuPont Unit

Law360, New York (August 8, 2012, 8:09 PM EDT) -- The Carlyle Group LP has made a $4.8 billion bid for DuPont Co.'s vehicle refinishing unit that bests offers from rival private equity suitors, according to a Tuesday report.

Carlyle outbid Apollo Global Management LLC and a team of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP and Onex Corp., the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
