Chemical Cos. To Pay $5M For Turtle Bayou Cleanup

Law360, New York (October 08, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A court on Friday ordered six chemical companies to pay over $7 million for the cleanup of a polluted chemical dumping site to three companies that have already borne much of the cost, concluding a case that began nearly six years ago.

Bayer Group, Chevron Corp., Exxon Mobil Corp., Lubrizol Corp., Occidental Petroleum Corp. and PPG Industries have all been ordered to compensate Lyondell Chemical Co., Atlantic Richfield Co. and El Paso Energy Corp. Polymers Inc., which have paid over $30 million to clean up the...
