Congressman Blasts LA Courthouse Plan As Unnecessary

Law360, San Diego (August 20, 2012, 11:31 PM EDT) -- A U.S. congressman on Friday criticized the General Services Administration’s $400 million plan to construct a new federal courthouse in Los Angeles, claiming it was unnecessary and a waste of taxpayer money.

Rep. Jeff Denham, a Republican from Atwater, Calif., and chair of the economic development subcommittee, said at a hearing reviewing the proposal for a 24-courtroom, 32-chamber courthouse in Los Angeles that too much space would go unused, costing taxpayers significant sums.
