UK Student Dodges Extradition To US In Copyright Case

Law360, New York (November 28, 2012, 7:29 PM EST) -- A British student accused of violating U.S. copyright laws by creating a website that linked to TV programs and movies has struck a deal to avoid extradition to the United States, a U.K. court reportedly was told Wednesday.

An attorney for Richard O'Dwyer, a 24-year-old student at Sheffield Hallam University, told the High Court of Justice in London that O'Dwyer had worked out a “deferred prosecution” arrangement, under which he would avoid extradition and possible criminal prosecution in the U.S., according to a BBC news report....
