Jury Awards $20.5M In Welding Fume Trial

Law360, New York (December 06, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal jury awarded a couple $20.5 million Wednesday after finding that a number of companies failed to warn the husband that exposure to the fumes of their welding products could cause neurological injury.

The jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of the Northern District of Ohio decided that Lincoln Electric Co., Hobart Brothers Company, ESAB Group Inc., BOC Group, Inc. and TDY Industries Inc. should pay $17.5 million to Jeffrey Tamraz and $3 million to his wife, Terry Tamraz.
