DuPont Dam Oversight Caused Irene Flooding, Suit Says

Law360, New York (August 19, 2013, 12:58 PM ET) -- A group of New Jersey homeowners sued DuPont Co. on Thursday, claiming the company’s multiple management failures at a local dam are responsible for overflow flooding that caused severe damage in the wake of Hurricane Irene.

The 22 named plaintiffs say DuPont botched its response to the 2011 hurricane by waiting four days after Gov. Chris Christie ordered a state of emergency to attempt to lower levels at its Duhernal Lake Dam using water pumps that by that time had become submerged and unusable.
