Sierra Club Slams Proposed LNG Port Off NJ, NY Coasts

Law360, New York (August 22, 2013, 3:05 PM ET) -- New Jersey's Sierra Club on Thursday urged the U.S. Maritime Administration to block Liberty Natural Gas LLC from building a proposed liquefied natural gas deepwater port off the New York and New Jersey coasts, saying it will create an environmental and public health hazard.

Liberty is seeking government approval for its Port Ambrose Deepwater Port project, which is expected to pump 400 million cubic feet of natural gas per day into New York via a new, 22-mile subsea pipeline that will connect into existing infrastructure. But...
