Fla. Tabs $90M For Everglades Bridge To Improve Water Flow

Law360, Miami (August 28, 2013, 6:21 PM EDT) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday announced a $90 million commitment to bridge a 2.6-mile stretch of Tamiami Trail road in South Florida to help redirect needed water flow into the Everglades and away from the overburdened Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie estuaries.

The reconstruction will provide another outlet for nutrient-rich water flows from Lake Okeechobee, which have been a source of controversy recently as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has dumped millions of gallons into local rivers, harming wildlife.
