Fla. Sens. Back $2.8M For Water Flow Improvement Projects

Law360, Miami (August 30, 2013, 4:45 PM EDT) -- Two leading Florida state senators on Thursday backed a $2.8 million budget amendment request from the state's Department of Environmental Protection to reduce releases from Lake Okeechobee, which sends polluted water into local estuaries.

Sens. Joe Negron, R-Stuart, and Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Fort Myers, who are the chair and vice chair, respectively, of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, threw their support behind the DEP's request, which will be evaluated by Legislative Budget Commission in the next two weeks.
