Va. Tech Data Breach Reveals Info On 145K Job Applicants

Law360, New York (September 24, 2013, 7:57 PM ET) -- Personally identifying information on nearly 145,000 individuals may have been extracted from computers at Virginia Tech’s human resources division in an international cyberattack after an oversight left its network vulnerable, the university said Tuesday.

A server containing information on university job applicants stretching back to 2003 was illegally accessed Aug. 28 and may have exposed names, addresses, employment and education histories and prior criminal records, the university said.
